A Collaborative work at STYLY for Vision Pro hackathon
In 1902, French film director Georges Méliès created “A Trip to the Moon,” which is recognized as the world’s first science fiction film to utilize advanced special effects. This pioneering work continues to influence many filmmakers today. During the early 1900s, amid significant societal changes such as the Industrial Revolution and the advancement of science and technology, this historical masterpiece was created using film, the cutting-edge medium of its time, and was dubbed “the magic of cinema.” Our goal was to merge this historic film with Vision Pro, the latest media technology, to create a new video viewing experience.
In this work, when the user stops moving, clouds gather and obscure their view. To watch the video, they must keep moving. By continuing to walk, they can see the next part of the story, and we paralleled this evolving landscape with the creators’ own journey of continual progress.
1902年、フランスの映画監督ジョルジュ・メリエスが制作した「月世界旅行」は、世界で初めて高度な特殊効果を駆使したSF映画の先駆けとして、現代でも多くの映像製作者に影響を与えています。 1900年代初頭、産業革命や科学技術の発展など社会が大きく変化する中で、フィルムという当時の最先端メディアを活用して制作され「映画の魔術」と呼ばれた歴史的名作と、Vision Proという今最も新しいメディアを融合させた新たな動画視聴体験を作ることを目指しました。
この作品では、ユーザーが立ち止まると雲が立ち込め、視界を遮られてしまいます。動画を視聴するには、動き続けなければいけません。 歩みを止めないことでストーリーの続きを観ることができ、周りの景色が変わっていくその様子を、私たちクリエイターが前進し続ける姿に重ねました。
